Smart link FAQs
Smart link FAQs
Clear answers about smart links, rules, rule order, country detection, operating systems, browsers, fallback behaviour, and Linkie Plus.
What is a smart link?
A smart link is one link on your Linkie page that opens different webpage URLs for different visitors, based on rules you set for their country, operating system, or browser.
What is Smart Link Targeting?
Smart Link Targeting lets one link open different destinations for different visitors. Linkie chooses the destination using the targeting rules you create.
What are smart link rules?
Rules are the conditions behind a smart link. Each rule checks something about the visitor and sends the ones who match to a destination you choose.
What are smart link targeting rules?
A targeting rule is a simple instruction. It tells Linkie which destination to open when a visitor matches a device, operating system, country, or browser condition.
What can smart link rules check?
Country, operating system, and browser.
What is the difference between device and OS targeting?
A device describes the type of machine, such as desktop or mobile. An operating system is the software running it. Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux are operating systems.
Can I add more than one rule to a smart link?
Yes. Linkie Plus includes unlimited rules on a smart link.
Can I change the order of my smart link rules?
Yes. Drag your most important rules to the top. Linkie reads rules from top to bottom and opens the first one that matches.
What happens if several smart link rules match?
The rule highest in the list wins. Order your rules from most specific to most general.
Can I redirect visitors by country?
Yes. You can assign different destinations to different countries. This allows one link to work as a country-based geo redirect.
What happens if no smart link rule matches?
The visitor goes to the default destination you set. Every smart link has one, so nobody reaches a dead end.
Do smart links work if someone uses a VPN?
A VPN makes a visitor appear to be in the location of their VPN server, so a country rule routes them accordingly. Your default destination catches anyone sent somewhere unhelpful.
Which operating systems do smart links support?
Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Which browsers do smart links support?
Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, and Opera.
Can one smart link rule use more than one condition?
Yes. Every selected condition inside the rule must match before its destination opens.
Which browsers can Linkie target?
Linkie targeting rules support Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, and Opera.
Do smart links support deep links?
No. Smart links currently route visitors to standard webpage URLs. They do not support deep links, deferred deep links, Universal Links, or Android App Links.
Can targeting-rule destinations include deep links?
Yes. A rule destination can be a regular website URL or an existing deep link. A deep link is designed to open a specific place inside a compatible app.
Which Linkie plan includes smart links?
Smart links are available on Linkie Plus.
