How to embed Youtube videos

Step-by-step guide on how to embed YouTube videos

Use the HTML Embed card to add videos from YouTube, Streamable, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and other supported video platforms to your Linkie profile.

Open the Cards menu

Go to your Linkie profile in the playground, then click Click to add link, post, embed, etc.

Choose HTML Embed

Choose HTML Embed.

Select Paste URL

Select Paste URL.

Open the YouTube video you want to embed, then click Share and Copy to copy the video link.

Paste the YouTube link into the URL field. You can also add an optional title for tracking analytics, then click Add embed.

If the website supports embedding, Linkie will generate the video preview automatically.

Tip: You can use this flow with YouTube, Streamable, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and other video streaming platforms.Streamable example: https://streamable.com/e/YOUR_VIDEO_IDVimeo example: https://player.vimeo.com/video/YOUR_VIDEO_IDDailymotion example: https://geo.dailymotion.com/player.html?video=YOUR_VIDEO_IDReplace YOUR_VIDEO_ID with your own video ID and use the platform’s player URL instead of the regular video page URL.

Some websites do not allow their videos or posts to be embedded. If a platform disables embeds or iframes, Linkie will not be able to generate a preview from that URL.

Choose a card shape

After adding the embed, choose the card size that fits your Linkie profile best:

  • Square shows the video as a compact card that fits into your profile grid. Depending on your selected layout, it will appear within your 2-column or 3-column grid.
  • Full shows the video as a full-width rectangle. It takes the full width of your Linkie profile and becomes the only card on that row.

Preview your embed

Click Preview at the top right of the playground to see how the embedded YouTube video will look on your Linkie profile. The preview will show how the video appears in both Square and Full size layouts.

Optional: use HTML code instead

If you want to add the YouTube video with HTML embed code, choose HTML Code instead of Paste URL when creating the embed card.

Open the YouTube video, click Share, then select Embed.

Click Copy to copy the HTML embed code.

Go back to Linkie and paste the embed code into the HTML Code field. You can also add an optional title for tracking analytics.

When embedding with HTML, avoid using event attributes like onclick, because they rely on JavaScript, which many platforms block for security reasons.

Things to note

  • The same flow applies to other supported video sharing platforms.
  • You can edit the YouTube embed from the top-right corner of the card or remove it by clicking the bin icon.
  • Use Paste URL when you want Linkie to generate the embed from the video link.
  • Square fits inside your current 2-column or 3-column layout.
  • Full mode takes the full width of the profile and appears alone on its row.
