How to embed Google Maps location

Step-by-step guide on how to embed a Google Maps location on your Linkie page

You can add a Google Maps location to your Linkie page by pasting the full location URL into an embed card. You can also use Google Maps HTML embed code if you prefer.

Add an embed card

Go to your Linkie dashboard and click Click to add link, post, embed, etc.

Choose the embed option

Choose Add an embed from the available card options.

Select Paste URL

Click Paste URL.

Copy the Google Maps location URL

Open the location in Google Maps and click Share. Choose Send a link, then click Copy link.

Shortened Google Maps links may not work because they do not always include the full location details. Paste the copied link into your browser first, open the full Google Maps URL, then copy that full URL for Linkie.

Add the Google Maps embed

Go back to Linkie, paste the full Google Maps URL, then click Add embed.

Preview your map

Click Preview at the top right of the playground to see how the map will look on your Linkie page.

Optional: use HTML Code instead

If you want to add the map with HTML embed code, choose HTML Code instead of Paste URL when creating the embed card.

Open the location in Google Maps and click Share. Choose Embed a map, then click Copy HTML.

Go back to Linkie and paste the embed code into the HTML Code field. You can also add an optional title for tracking analytics.

When embedding with HTML, avoid using event attributes like onclick, because they rely on JavaScript, which many platforms block for security reasons.

Things to note

  • Google Maps embeds include a Get directions button that takes visitors directly to the location in Google Maps.
  • Embed cards are full width by default and cannot be resized, but the height can be adjusted.
  • You can edit the Google Maps embed from the top-right corner of the card or remove it by clicking the bin icon.
  • You can include custom HTML elements like headings. For example: <h1>Hello world</h1>.
