# How to migrate from Linktree

# How to migrate from Linktree

###### **Step-by-step guide on how to migrate from Linktree to Linkie**

You can import your public Linktree page into Linkie instead of rebuilding it by hand. Linkie copies your links, bio, and page picture into a draft, and nothing goes live until you save.

|| Your Linktree page must be public. Pages with a password, an age gate, or any other lock cannot be imported.

## What does Linkie import from Linktree?

Linkie imports what a visitor can see on your public Linktree page at the moment you start the import.

Linktree item | Imported | In Linkie
--- | --- | ---
**Page title** | ✅ | Your page name. If your Linktree has no title, your Linktree username is used.
**Bio** | ✅ | Your bio.
**Profile photo** | ✅ | Your page picture. Linkie copies it into its own storage when you save.
**Priority link** (the highlighted "Leap" link) | ✅ | The call-to-action button on your Linkie page, with the same label and URL.
**Regular links** | ✅ | Cards with the same title, URL, and thumbnail.
**Links to YouTube, Spotify (`open.spotify.com`), Calendly, Cal.com, Zcal, and Google Maps (full URLs)** | ✅ | Embedded cards. Visitors see a player or widget instead of a plain link.
**Social icons** | ✅ | Icon cards. Linkie uses its own circle icons for Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X/Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, WordPress, and Google.
**Email, phone, and SMS icons** | ✅ | `mailto:`, `tel:`, and `sms:` links.
**Post links from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, and Reddit** | ✅ | Plain link cards. They are not embedded as posts.
**Short Google Maps links** (`maps.app.goo.gl`) | ✅ | Plain link cards. Short links cannot be embedded.

Your link order stays the same. Social icons stay at the top or bottom of your page, matching your Linktree setting.

## What does Linkie not import?

Linktree item | Imported | What happens
--- | --- | ---
**Design** (themes, colors, fonts, backgrounds, and button styles) | ❌ | Your Linkie page gets the default Linkie look.
**Headers and section titles** | ❌ | They are skipped.
**Groups** | ❌ | The group itself is skipped. Links inside a group may not come across, so check them after the import.
**Items without a web address** (music, shop, commerce, form, and email signup items with no plain `http` or `https` link) | ❌ | They are skipped.
**Hidden or scheduled links** | ❌ | Only links visible on your public Linktree page are imported.
**Account data** (analytics, subscribers, collected emails, Linktree Shop, and custom domains) | ❌ | They stay in Linktree.
**Page settings** (link descriptions, SEO settings, the page favicon, and the social share image) | ❌ | They stay in Linktree.
**Your Linktree username** | ❌ | It is not reserved for you. Linkie only suggests it as your Linkie username, and it can still be taken.

## Import your Linktree page on desktop

### Open the Add new Linkie dialog

#### If this is your first Linkie page

The **Add new Linkie** dialog appears automatically after you claim a username on the [homepage](https://linkie.bio/) or open the [playground](https://app.linkie.bio/playground) before signing up. Continue with the next step.

#### If you already have a Linkie page

![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/1/0/c/0/10c04ec9d8785f00/firefoxwjhuhpnerg_vokgrb.png =361xauto)

Go to the [playground](https://app.linkie.bio/playground). In the top-left corner, click the down arrow next to your current Linkie page.

A dropdown menu will appear with the Linkie pages connected to your account. Click **Create New** at the bottom of the dropdown menu.

### Choose Migrate from Linktree

![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/1/0/c/0/10c04ec9d8785f00/firefoxbemmoelt2w_1biv0sp.png =600xauto)

In the **Add new Linkie** dialog, click **Migrate from Linktree**. It sits between **Start from scratch** and **Use a template**.

The **Import from Linktree** window will open.

### Enter your Linktree username

Type your Linktree username in the field after `linktr.ee/`. You can enter any of these:
* `yourname`
* `@yourname`
* `https://linktr.ee/yourname`

Linkie removes everything except the username. A valid username has 1–30 characters and uses only letters, numbers, `.`, `_`, and `-`.

| Only `linktr.ee/` addresses work. If your Linktree uses a custom domain, enter the `linktr.ee` username instead.

### Start the import

Click **Import**. Linkie reads your public Linktree page, which usually takes a few seconds.

When the import finishes, your page is updated and you are notified whether the import was successful.

If Linktree responds slowly, Linkie tries up to 3 times and shows an error after about 45 seconds. To go back without importing, click **Back**.

### Review your imported page

![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/1/0/c/0/10c04ec9d8785f00/firefoxgojzoa9x8a_1kulptw.png =600xauto)

You land in the playground with an unsaved draft of your new Linkie page. Nothing is live yet.

Check your cards and make sure every link you expect is there. You can reorder, edit, or delete cards, and set up the design, because Linkie currently does not import your Linktree design.

### Preview your page

![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/1/0/c/0/10c04ec9d8785f00/firefoxflybyg5vik_1ai3ed9.png =600xauto)
Click **Preview** at the top right of the [playground](https://app.linkie.bio/playground) to see how your imported cards will look on your published Linkie page.

### Save your page

![](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/1/0/c/0/10c04ec9d8785f00/xfsf5lqd0q_12e8n7x.png =600xauto)
When satisfied with the result, click **Save** at the top right of the page to save your changes. The **Create a new Linkie** dialog will appear and ask for a username.

The field is prefilled with your Linktree username, unless you already claimed a different one. Confirm the username to create your Linkie page.

If you are not logged in, Linkie keeps your draft while you sign up. After you confirm your email and create your account, the draft becomes your first Linkie page. For details, see [How to sign up for Linkie](https://linkie.bio/help/en/article/how-to-sign-up-to-linkie-ogxkqw).

After you save, Linkie copies your page picture and link thumbnails into its own storage, creates the social share image, and publishes your Linkie page.

## Troubleshooting

### Your Linktree page is locked

Linkie shows `That Linktree page is locked, so we cannot import it.` Remove the password, age gate, or other lock in Linktree so the page is public, then import again.

### Linkie cannot reach or read your Linktree page

Linkie shows `We could not reach Linktree right now. Please try again in a moment.` or a message that starts with `We could not read that Linktree page`. Linktree may be down, may be blocking the request, or may have changed its page. Wait a few minutes and try again. If the problem continues, contact [support@linkie.bio](mailto:support@linkie.bio).

On mobile, Linkie can also show `Couldn’t import that Linktree profile. Please try again.` Try again in a moment.

### You made too many attempts

Try again after 20-30 seconds. If the problem continues, contact support@linkie.bio.

### Linkie imported an older version of your Linktree

Linkie keeps the result of an import for 10 minutes. If you edit your Linktree and import again straight away, Linkie can bring back the old version. Wait up to 10 minutes, then import again.

### Some of your links are missing

Linkie imports only links that have a web address and are visible on your public Linktree page. Hidden links, scheduled links, links inside groups, and items such as music, shop, or form blocks may be skipped. Add any missing links to your Linkie page by hand.

---

### Things to note

* Nothing is published until you save the imported draft.
* Linkie imports only what visitors can see on your public Linktree page. Your Linktree design, analytics, subscribers, and settings stay in Linktree.
* Only `linktr.ee/` addresses work, and your Linktree page must be public.
* On desktop, the import always creates a new Linkie page. On mobile, the first-launch sheet fills the page on your screen.
* Your Linktree username is only suggested as your Linkie username, and it can still be taken.
* You can import 5 times per minute, and Linkie keeps each result for 10 minutes.
